Oh I learned a lesson maybe with some hugs, a lot of other extras I can win the trust back and drive again... But geez really, what the heck was I thinking and why did I let the motor blow... Sometimes I know things happen for a reason.. I did learn something new and I even studied the parts of the motor in some diagrams and stuff so I could understand the language of the damage done.. My husband spent so much time on this car, he took the top vinyl off, sanded, bonded, sanded, painted, sanded painted weeks of work to finish. I asked him if I could drive it to the store one time, I have only driven this car once about a year ago but it was right up the road less than a block away. Well apparently I was stupid thinking this car is supposed to be loud, it wouldn't shift gears like it was supposed to in the transmission therefore on the way home the motor blew. No blew is not even close to what it did. I felt so bad, I wanted to cry for days because I knew he put all his time into working on it. I caught hell from him and others and I am still saying I am sorry. I should catch hell too, because damn what was I thinking. I could of turned around to come home or I could of pulled over and figure out a solution .. The thing is I kept trying with my hand on the gear to shift it, I drove 35 in a 55 zone all the way to the store. It just seemed that it only went in reverse and drive. My husband says it is tight and has neutral, D, 2 and 1st. Well I must of been in low gear because the motor sure blown to pieces with a rod going all the way through to the oil pan. Even the shaft completely busted in half leaving metal and stuff inside of the block. My husband was shocked that this could happen, sure only leave it to me, but I will never drive it again.I mean if I went racing and hammered down pushing this motor to the max it would be different and maybe worth it right. I was going 35 and this motor blew into so many pieces a Fairlane 280 original. Well the good news is maybe the transmission is still good. The best news is I didn't scratch his paint. Even better news is he is now replacing the engine with a better high performance cleaner motor. Am off the hook yet? No I ain't... He says I will be the first to drive it with him in it this time.. Haha I ain't nope not unless he will let me race it.. Just kidding... But tis true I was the engine killer... I still feel bad...
